Scander and the Red Briar Prince

“Once upon a long ago, two cities vied to be the Heart of the World…”

I am very pleased to let folks know that “Scander and the Red Briar Prince” is now out in the Summer Issue of the Rose Red Review. It is…not quite a real story. It is a story about a story, a balladeering of something that may have happened, or may not have happened. It chronicles how, in the world of my novel, a city became the Heart of the World. It shows Scander, who is a hero and a myth and forever caught by the stories they tell about him. And Red Briar, whose destiny was laid out for him like a road stretching to the horizon. Don’t think less of either of them. Heroes have never been given much choice in what they become.
